The Miles Playhouse is a beloved 1929 landmark and is the centerpiece of Reed Park, formerly known as Lincoln Park. The Santa Monica Conservancy will conduct a series of 15-minute docent-led tours during Santa Monica's State of the City event at the historic site. The tour will cover its design (designed by architect John Byers, formerly a Samohi language teacher in 1929), and its architectural features (a prime example of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture). and its historical context. The visitor will get a better understanding of its important role in the arts, recreation and cultural scene in Santa Monica for almost a century.
As a nonprofit, we rely on grant funding and sponsorships to maintain our programs. Thank you for supporting the Conservancy's Miles Playhouse Tours.
