We are pleased to invite our Leadership Circle and Preservation Next members and friends to a Special Tour of the Historic Post Office on Sunday, February 20, from 3-5 p.m.

You'll have the chance to tour the landmark Post Office building, which was built in 1938 as one of three Works Progress Administration (WPA) projects in our city. Designed by local architect Robert Dennis Murray, the Art Deco-style building features stylized wave motifs and a white pine wood-clad lobby that reflect our seaside community. Over the last several years, the Post Office was rehabilitated and adapted into a creative space, and today, it houses the Vito Schnabel Gallery.

Historic preservation consultant Robert Chattel will give a talk about the work that he and the project team completed for the adaptive reuse of the building. Madeline Sparer, Director of Exhibitions at Vito Schnabel Gallery, will present the artwork of Julian Schnabel, which will be featured in the gallery's upcoming exhibit.

Refreshments will be served outdoors. Proof of vaccination will be required for entry and masks must be worn indoors at all times. This is an invite-only event and our Leadership Circle and Preservation Next members and friends are welcome to bring 1 guest. Advanced registration is required as attendance will be limited.

Limited parking will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis in the Post Office lot, which can be accessed from the alley on Wilshire Boulevard at 4th Street. Street parking and parking structures will also be available.

Our gratitude to our sponsors Allied Commercial Real Estate and Bjorn Farrugia for supporting our event.

We look forward to seeing you at the event!
