Invest in Heritage Conservation
Together we can continue our work and help future generations of Santa Monicans engage with history.

Since opening the Shotgun House in 2015, we’ve welcomed over 19,000 residents and visitors from around the world who were excited to learn about heritage conservation in our community.

We continue to:

  • Showcase Santa Monica’s local history convening volunteers and storytellers for our signature tours, digital programs, and special events.
  • Serve as a community hub for the Ocean Park neighborhood, hosting meetings and introducing both local architecture and global art, such as the La Gente de Santa Monica cohort, curated by Steve Galindo.
  • Recognize the historic and architectural contributions of Black Santa Monicans through collaborations with the Quinn Research Center, including two successful nominations of sites associated with Black history – the Tucker House and the Philomathean Hall.
  •  Introduce preservation policy positions to the City, Landmarks Commission, and City Council including advocacy to save the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
  • Champion environmental sustainability with our native plant garden, distribution of seedlings from a local nursery, and promotion of adaptive re-use to young students and professionals.
  • Host visits to historic places including Kuruvungna Springs, Elks Lodge No. 99, and San Gabriel Mission.

As we approach the ten-year anniversary of the Shotgun House, we are excited to continue the work of heritage conservation in Santa Monica. Together we can continue our work and help future generations of Santa Monicans engage with history. Thank you for your support.
